What Makes Us Different

With so many breeders out there, why choose us?

1. We take time to research temperament, teach basic obedience, and provide all recommended breed relevant genetic and physical health testing for our prospective parent dogs.

2.  The health and well-being of our parent dogs is our first priority. They are all pets and family members first and will be treated as such before, during, and after their breeding career.

3.  Our mama dogs are given access to everything they could possibly need to ensure a healthy and happy pregnancy and delivery. This begins before the first breeding ever takes place! From nutrition, specialized vet care, to extra love and snuggles, our mama dogs are made as comfortable and content as possible during their 63 days of pregnancy.

4. A week before their due dates, our mama dogs in guardian homes come to stay with us. That gives them time to acclimate to their whelping area, receive a pre-labor bath and sanitary trim, and daily massages. Each mama is provided with a safe, quiet, comfortable, and highly sanitized area inside our home to whelp and care for her puppies. We stay with mama throughout delivery and assist her as needed.

5. For the first couple of days of their lives, we handle puppies strictly on an as needed basis. We maintain a calm and quiet environment to allow our mama dogs to rest, relax, and recuperate while nursing and bonding with their new babies.

6. From days 3-16 we perform both ENS (early neurological stimulation) and ESI (early scent introduction) daily. When performed correctly and under the right conditions, ENS has been found to increase the overall health and well-being of dogs by making it easier for puppies to cope with stress later in life. ESI has been shown to build confidence by making dogs more alert and aware of their sense of smell.

7.  Starting at week 3, we begin working puppies through Jeanette Forrey’s Badass Breeder curriculum. Jeanette devised a 10-step handling protocol that she calls “puppy massage.” This is a set of exercises that begins to acclimate puppies to a variety of human touches, handling, and sensations. The pressure for the “puppy massage” begins very lightly and slowly increases in both pressure and intensity each week.

8. Socialization also begins at week 3. A variety of stimuli are introduced at the appropriate developmental stage. Thus, puppies begin the journey to being empowered and not enabled. Various physical and mental challenges are provided to the puppies each day.  This starts to build a strong foundation for life-long learning, increased nerve strength, and confidence building. A watchful eye and careful note-taking will allow us to modify and work with any puppy that needs further assistance.

9.  During week 6, we perform the Badass Breeder puppy aptitude test. This test focuses on 12 important puppy temperament traits.  This helps to ensure you get a puppy that fits your lifestyle, your needs, as well as honoring who each puppy innately is. All puppy evaluations will be videoed and results will be recorded on a scorecard.

10.  Puppy picks take place virtually (Zoom, FaceTime, etc.) at 7 weeks of age. This is following a comprehensive vet check and visit with a canine certified chiropractor. This also allows time for families to watch and review each puppy evaluation and scorecard as many times as they feel necessary to make a confident selection.

*Please note that all puppies are sold with a spay/neuter contract and as pets ONLY unless expressley agreed upon in writing. Breeding rights may be considered for an additional fee to approved breeders and breeding programs*
